This past fall, some friends and I decided to start a Facebook group called Block of Friends. It is a fun group where we chat and host Block Parties (sew alongs). Our first Block Party was for the potato chip block.
It’s a really fun, fast and easy block that got its name because “you can’t make just one!” according to Brenda at Conquering Mount Scrapmore. I would call it a variation of a Courthouse Steps block.
For our Block Party, my friend Gina Tell made a video tutorial with some tips for making the block. Lots of people joined in and sewed with us!
I used Heather Bailey’s Full Bloom line for mine and created a faux sashing by doing my prints in the center and using low volumes for the outer ring of the block. I sent it to Gina to quilt for me and I love how it turned out! She took these pictures for me as well ♥
Mine is 7 blocks by 7 blocks and finishes at a large 84 inches square.
The description of this block is so accurate! Turns out I can’t make just one, and I’m already planning my next! Have you ever made a Potato Chip quilt? Let me know in the comments!
